Teresa Lynn

Dr Teresa Lynn is a Post Doctoral Researcher at the ADAPT Centre, Dublin City University. She completed her PhD through a cotutelle agreement between Dublin City University (Ireland) and Macquarie University Sydney (Australia), investigating parsing of the Irish language. She built the first syntactically-annotated corpus (treebank) for Irish and with that, trained the first statistical computational parsing models for Irish. Her research is the foundation for the development of Natural Language Processing applications such as Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) systems and Hybrid English – Irish machine translation systems.

Teresa was a Fulbright-Enterprise Ireland Awardee in 2014-2015. While on her Fulbright Award to Saint Louis University, Teresa undertook research on natural language processing techniques for the development of linguistic resources and technology for the Irish language. Teresa discussed the use of the Irish language on Twitter and the importance of social media for minority language as part of our TEDxFulbrightDublin 2016 event, watch the video here: TEDxFD Video
