Susan Boyle is a Ph.D. candidate based at the School of Business and Humanities at TU Dublin Tallaght Campus. Susan received her B.A. in Drama and Theatre Studies from University of Dublin, Trinity College and holds an M.A. in Performance Studies from The University of London, Royal Holloway. Susan’s doctoral research is in the transdisciplinary area of beverage studies and uses performance analysis and performance theory to examine the role of place, story and narrative in immersive beverage experiences. Her research is funded by a TU Dublin Scholarship. Susan is an Oxford Symposium of Food and Cookery Outstanding Speaker (OSFC), an OSFC Julia Child’s Foundation scholarship recipient, an award-winning member of the Guild of Beer Writers and has worked with the British Museum to rebrew a 5,000-year-old Ancient Egyptian ale. As a Fulbright Creative Ireland Fellow at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, Susan will work with archival material in the museum’s collection to investigate the influence of European immigrants on brewing in pre-1920 America.
