Philip Coleman is a Professor in the School of English, Trinity College Dublin, where he is also a Fellow. His research is primarily on U.S. American poetry, short fiction, and the essay, but he has also done work on Irish poetry in English. He received a Fulbright Scholarship in 1998 to work with the papers of the poet John Berryman (1914-72) at the University of Minnesota, where his mentor was the bibliographer and scholar Richard J. Kelly. Following the completion of his doctoral dissertation on Berryman, he published several books and articles on the poet, including John Berryman’s Public Vision (2014) and The Selected Letters of John Berryman (2020).
