Dr Patrick Wadden is an Associate Professor of History at Belmont Abbey College, North Carolina, where he teaches a range of courses on medieval topics. He studied at Trinity College, Dublin and Oxford University and has previously taught in the Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University. He has published on a variety of topics related to the history and culture of early Ireland, in both history and Celtic studies journals. He is also currently the president of the Celtic Studies Association of North America. As a Fulbright Scholar, he will continue his research into conceptions of Irish identity in the early medieval period at the School of Celtic Studies in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
