Martin (Marty) Lipa is a globally recognized leader in knowledge management (KM), most recently as Executive Director of KM for Merck & Co. His prior experience includes roles in technology, engineering, operations, and digital. Marty has a PhD from TU Dublin in pharmaceutical regulatory science, is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a certified Process Manager and experienced in leading transformational change. Marty is an active member of the global KM community as a speaker, author, and editor, and has been recognized for his industry contributions as the 2022 ISPE Member of the Year. He was contributing editor to the book “A Lifecycle Approach to Knowledge Excellence in the Pharmaceutical Industry,” and has consulted for leading organizations including NASA, World Bank, Corning, and FDA. Marty’s project will focus on solutions to the global challenge of drug shortages, specifically on improving quality risk management and knowledge management to improve product quality.
