Margaret Jane O’Hanlon
Award: Fulbright Irish Scholar Award
Institution: Poetry Ireland
Dr Jane O’Hanlon is the Head of Education with Poetry Ireland/Éigse Éireann. In her work Jane has always sought to create opportunities for access and participation, in and to, education and culture, for young people, children and adults. Her work has always been particularly focused on creating access for those for whom access to educational and cultural participation may have been more difficult or restricted. As a Fulbright Scholar Jane will spend three months embedded in The Poets House, Battery Park, New York, shadowing, learning, and exchanging ideas, approaches, and expertise, and observing The Poets House in serving both the public and the poetry community. It is envisaged that this will serve to create new networks, enrich the thinking and contribute to a wider understanding and vision, as Poetry Ireland develops The Poetry Centre, at No 11 Parnell Square East, and as it becomes embedded, and very much part of, the thriving and diverse community of North East Inner City Dublin.
