Maeve Breathnach graduated from the University of Georgia as a First Honors Graduate with degrees in international affairs and economics. While at UGA, Maeve was a volunteer and data intern for U-Lead Athens, a nonprofit that assists immigrant students with finding postgraduate opportunities. She served as the Legislative Director for Georgia State Representative Spencer Frye and interned in the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. Additionally, she interned at various legal nonprofits in Georgia and DC. The support of her UGA Foundation Fellowship scholarship allowed her to study abroad in Quito and Oxford.
Maeve is passionate about equitable immigration policy. As a Fulbright awardee, she will pursue a Master’s in Refugee Integration at Dublin City University. She’s chosen to learn from Ireland’s first University of Sanctuary about how institutions and public spaces can be best made accessible to migrants of all statuses.
