Lukas is a core surgical trainee in plastic and reconstructive surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland ( RCSI ) . He received his medical degree ( MB BCh BAO) from UCD; where he was an Ad Astra scholar, masters of surgical sciences ( MCh ) from NUI Galway, and Membership of RCSI ( MRCS ).

He is passionate about hospital management; with staff retention, contract disputes and burnout a constant and enduring reality in the Irish healthcare system. He is pursuing a masters in health policy and management at Yale University. This industry lead teaching will give a strong foundation upon which to build for future clinical leadership roles.

He is a keen musician , having been in the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland for 6 years as an Oboist. He holds 3 diplomas in classical music performance ( dipLCM, ATCL,LTCL). He has also won an U21 All Ireland hurling championship.
