Professor William Lammela

William Lammela is a Professor of Chemistry at Nazareth College. He is the founding director of the Global Sustainability Program and served twenty years as chair of the Chemistry Department. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire. He was the Project Shepard (Project Lead) for the Integrated Math/Science Building at Nazareth College. His research involves analyzing transition metal ions in water and the quantification of resveratrol in Finger Lakes Pinot Noir wines. His teaching responsibilities include environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, wine chemistry, and environmental science. More recently, he has worked on developing an integrated General Physics Program for science and health science students. As a Fulbright Scholar, he will be teaching in the Environmental Chemistry level 4 module, teaching a Mastera€™s Class on pollution issues in soils, developing a new course for the green chemistry track, and networking with the universitya€™s new Sustainability Program.
