Dr John P Gilmore is Assistant Professor in Nursing at University College Dublin School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems. John’s research, teaching and scholarship broadly centres around themes of inclusion health, social justice, LGBTQ+ Health and broader sexual health. His PhD, awarded with examiners commendation in 2021, explored Irish Gay Men’s experiences of discussing sexuality with healthcare practitioners, and he has contributed internationally to discourse and practice in LGBTQ+ Health. John continues to practice clinically and has over a decade of experience in areas of Critical Care, Emergency, Sexual Health, Intellectual Disability and Rehabilitation. Prior to his role at UCD John worked at Canterbury Christ Church University as a Senior Lecturer in Nursing.

As a Fulbright Health Impact Scholar John will visit the Center for Gender and Sexual Minority Health at the University of California San Francisco to explore enablers and barriers to community-led LGBT healthcare.
