Emer Maguire is a Primary School Teacher, having received her Bachelor of Education degree in 2018 from St. Patricks College, DCU. She has been teaching in Ardee, Louth since she qualified. She specialised in Irish as an academic subject alongside her degree in college and was a keen member of both the Cumann Gaelach and DCU Badminton Club while there.
Emer is a founding member of a branch of Conradh na Gaeilge in Drogheda, established in 2019, and currently holds the position of chairperson. The branch runs many events throughout the year, both big and small, to promote the Irish Language in the town and county. She also sits on the executive committee of Conradh na Gaeilge as a representative for the East & Mid-Ulster.
Irish culture plays a big role in Emer’s life. She is an Irish dancer and has been lucky to have performed around Europe at various International Folk Festivals with a traditional group. Through this, she has been able to share Irish culture with others around the world.
Emer is a keen musician, playing whistle and piano. She is the Irish Language Officer with both the Drogheda Branch and the Louth County Board of Comhaltas Ceoltóirà Éireann.
