David Sklar MD is an Emergency Physician and Professor at Arizona State University. He has served as Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education and Chair of Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico. He was the Editor-in-Chief of Academic Medicine, the leading medical education journal in the US, from 2013-2020. In 2011-12 as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow, he served on the Senate Finance Committee working on the Affordable Care Act, physician payment and workforce. He has authored or co-authored over 200 articles on medical education, quality improvement, global health, disaster medicine and health services and written two books. As a Fulbright Scholar he will do research and work on educational projects as part of curricular reform at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Medical School in Dublin, focusing on case-based learning, high value healthcare, and health humanities.
