ClĂodhna McHugh, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin. ClĂÂodhna is interested in cardiovascular diseases and its risk factors with a particular dedication to prevention. She completed her BSc in Sports Science and Health and her MSc in Preventive Cardiology. Her doctoral studies focused on the cardiovascular health and prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors in professional athletes.
As a Fulbright Scholar she will work in the School of Medicine at Harvard University and the Cardiovascular Performance Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital Corrigan Minehan Heart Center. ClĂÂodhna will develop skills in athlete specific electrocardiogram interpretation and the long-term cardiovascular care in athletic populations. ClĂodhna’s goal is to then apply this knowledge to establish a programme of research for developing treatment and prevention strategies for the cardiovascular care of athletes during their career and following their transition into retirement.
