Celina Flocks Monaghan holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in global health practice from the University of South Florida. She earned her BSc degree in International Affairs from the Florida State University. Her graduate research focused on developing sustainable methods for drought mitigation in rural Uganda. She also worked with vulnerable populations such as migrant farmworkers and urban Congolese refugees in the southern United States on research projects addressing health disparities. As an awardee of the Fulbright-Royal College of Surgeons IrelandÂ’s (RCSI) PhD award, Celina will work in the area of population health with a focus on global healthcare solutions in resource limited settings and will be joining the Scaling up Safe Surgery for District and Rural Populations (SURG-Africa) research project. She looks forward to collaborating with world renowned global health researchers in Ireland and getting to explore her new home in Dublin.
