Anna Synya graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice with minors in Digital Humanities, English, History, and Sociology. While at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the Ukrainian-American student engaged in various forms of research. Her primary focus was legal history research focused on the use of Habeas Corpus in the American West from the 19th and 20th centuries. Additonally, she was a summer research intern for the Juvenile Justice Institute and studied youth experiencing homelessness under the Criminology and Sociology departments.
As a Fulbright recipient, she will attend Dublin City University and complete her Master’s in History at the institution. There, she will explore the history and use of Habeas Corpus by those imprisoned during the period of British Colonial rule in Ireland. This research will further understanding of the legal mechanism and open the door for transnational research on the topic.
