James Ankrum, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa. Dr. Ankrum received his Mastera€™s in Engineering Design from Cambridge University and PhD in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics from MIT before starting his research lab at the University of Iowa in 2014. Dr. Ankruma€™s research is focused on using regenerative medicine principles to develop cell-based therapies and tissue mimetics that can be used as therapies as well as tissue mimetics. For his Fulbright starting in Winter of 2022, Dr. Ankrum will be based in Dublin where he will work with the Tissue Engineering Research Group of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Trinity College Dublin, and collaborators across AMBER (Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research) to develop a multifunctional scaffold for wound healing.
