Award: Fulbright U.S. Student Award
Institution: New York University The Institute of Fine Arts
Allison Carey holds a BA in Art History from Dartmouth College and an MA in the History of Art and Archeology from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. Throughout her education and work across notable art institutions, Allison has explored the methods through which art can illuminate overlooked or oppressed histories, while engaging communities with these dialogues. During her Fulbright year, Allison will apply these queries at the Hugh Lane Gallery, officially Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, where she plans to curate an exhibition with a group of youth from Dublin. The exhibition will reframe the museum’s founding, modern art collection in exploring how past art can share new perspectives on both collective and individual histories, across time and place.
