A. Reghan Foley, MD, MD(Res) is a Senior Research Physician in the Neuromuscular and Neurogenetic Disorders of Childhood Section, Neurogenetics Branch, NINDS, National Institutes of Health. She earned her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine and MD(Res) from the University College London, trained in pediatrics, neurology and neuromuscular diseases, and is a pediatric neuromuscular specialist with a clinical research focus on congenital muscle diseases. As a Fulbright Scholar with the University College Cork / Cork University Hospital’s Irish Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research (INFANT), her research will focus on identifying and validating disease-relevant biomarkers in children with congenital muscle diseases, bridging her expertise with INFANTs expertise in biomarker research in large congenital cohorts. Given promising therapeutic approaches currently in development for congenital muscle diseases, identifying and validating biomarkers capable of reflecting potential therapeutic change is essential and would increase the chance of success of upcoming clinical trials.
