December 4th, 2012: Thanksgiving with the IFAA Fulbrighters Attend Annual IFAA Thanksgiving Event at NUIG
The Irish Fulbright Alumni Association hosted a festive Thanksgiving dinner at the Aula Maxima at National University Ireland, Galway on Friday, November 23rd, 2012. The event was attended by former and current U.S. and Irish Fulbright awardees, as well as Courtney Cokely from the Irish Fulbright Commission.
After a traditional Thanksgiving feast of turkey and all the trimmings, guests were entertained with traditional musical performances from some of the very talented Fulbrighters, including Amanda Bernhard and her husband Jonathan Hohl-Kennedy, Dr. Lillis O’Laoire, and Dr. James O’Brien-Moran. Fulbrighter Shannon Chance also wrote up her experiences at the Thanksgiving dinner, which you can read here.
Courtney Cokely, Fulbright Program Administrator, and John Countryman, current US Fulbright Scholar at NUIG, enjoying the festivities.
It was a wonderful evening for Irish Fulbrighters to reconnect and reminisce about their Thanksgiving experience in the U.S. and also for the current U.S. awardees to enjoy a Thanksgiving away from home. Thanks to the IFAA for organizing such a lovely event!
