April 5th, 2012: UConn hosts Irish school teacher who is also Fulbright Scholar, The Daily Campus, The Independent News Source of the University of Connecticut

UConn has been hosting a Fulbright teacher since the beginning of last semester, initiating an international exchange of culture through language and learning.

Cuan Oflatharta is an elementary school teacher in Ireland who has been awarded the Fulbright experience to travel to another country and teach for a year. Sponsored by the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright Program provides funding for students, scholars, teachers and professionals to undertake graduate study, advanced research, university teaching and teaching in elementary and secondary schools. It’s a very competitive program that few get to experience, but both Oflatharta and UConn’s Brendan Kane, an associate history professor, have had the chance to travel abroad and immerse themselves in the culture of their host countries.
