The Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, Joe McHugh T.D. said of the Fulbright Irish FLTA Awards:
These awards represent a wonderful opportunity for Irish speakers with third-level qualifications both to develop their careers in the United States and to bring their language and culture to a new audience abroad. I would, therefore, encourage teachers of Irish, particularly those in Gaeltacht areas, to attend this event and to consider applying for one of these valuable scholarships.”
