Each year the Fulbright Commission awards scholarships to US citizens for post-graduate study, research and teaching in Ireland. Since 1957 more than 600 US Fulbrighters have visited Ireland and contributed to an exchange of ideas and experiences that have enhanced mutual understanding between Ireland and the United States and have developed knowledge, skills and networks in higher education, public policy and the arts.

- Cost – Fulbright grants to in-coming US scholars / professionals and students are a cost effective way to facilitate international recognition, collaboration, and understanding. For US applicants, Fulbright manages the advertising and recruitment of candidates, work permit and visa processing, grant payments, health insurance and orientation program for grantees.
