What's on offer

The Fulbright Senior Specialist Awards provide US academics and professionals with opportunities to collaborate with counterparts outside the US on curriculum and faculty development, institutional planning and a variety of other academic activities in certain academic disciplines for a period of 2 – 6 weeks.

The Senior Specialists receive an honorarium, a travel grant and accident and emergency insurance from the Council of International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). The Irish host institution provides the Senior Specialist with accommodation, meals and travel in Ireland.

The Council of International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) maintains a roster of Senior Specialists that Irish institutions can choose from or Irish institutions may nominate a particular US academic who can apply for inclusion on the roster.

How to apply

This is an ongoing program with no deadline.

US scholars interested in becoming a Senior Specialist should see the Council of International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).   US scholars are encouraged to contact the Fulbright Commission for advice on institutional affiliations.

Irish institutions interested in hosting a Senior Specialist should see About Hosting a US Fulbright Awardee.
