Who can apply?

The successful candidate must demonstrate

  • excellence and a proven academic and or professional track record in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • a clearly defined work program that fulfils the host institution’s requests
  • compliance with the Commission’s following citizenship criteria:

-      Irish citizens who are resident on the island of Ireland

-      Irish citizens who are ordinarily resident in other EU member states and who are not eligible to apply for a Fulbright award in their country of residence

-      EU citizens who are ordinarily resident in Ireland. A person is deemed to be ordinarily resident in the State if s/he has been living here for the past three consecutive years

PLEASE NOTE: US citizens and holders of US immigrant visas (green cards), or applicants for same, are not eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted from candidates who have applied for a non-immigrant (lottery) visa. However, the award of a Fulbright scholarship would preclude a candidate from pursuing such an application.

  • leadership potential and
  • the benefit of becoming a “Fulbrighter.”

 

In addition to the eligibility criteria set out above, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Availability: Full 2010 – 2011 academic year (23rd August 2010 – 23rd May 2011).  The successful candidate will have to provide a letter from his / her home institution (if relevant) indicating that s/he will receive leave of absence to take up the Fulbright award
  • Medical history: The successful candidate will be required to submit a current medical history report form prior to taking up the grant as a condition of US visa administration
