Fulbright grants are selected through an open and merit-based competition.
Applicants must:
- Ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria.
CANDIDATES WHO DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE CRITERIA AND OR THE APPLICATION PROCESS WILL BE CONSIDERED INELIGIBLE AND WILL NOT BE SHORT-LISTED FOR INTERVIEW.
- READ THE INSTRUCTIONS that are available from on the homepage of the on-line system (click on #1 Instructions) or can be downloaded here. They provide essential comprehensive information about how to complete the application form. Applicants who do not follow the instructions regarding the format and submission of their application and supporting documents risk being disqualified. Please contact the Commission ONCE YOU HAVE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS if you have any questions regarding the application process.
- Complete and submit the ONLINE application form and the required supplemental forms (the academic references) by 12 NOON ON 30TH OCTOBER 2009.
- Submit the following HARD COPIES of the application and supporting documentation to The Program Administrator Fulbright Commission, Brooklawn House, Crampton Avenue, Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, Ireland by 12 NOON ON 30TH OCTOBER 2009. Please note the following:
- 3 original REFERENCES. These should be on the Fulbright Letter of Reference Form which can be printed from the supplemental forms section of the on-line system. These must be in individually sealed envelopes and signed across the seal by the referee. References may be enclosed with the application documents outlined below or sent directly by the referee to the Fulbright Commission’s office to arrive on or before the closing date
- 4 COPIES of the FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR PROGRAM APPLICATION which should include:
- ALL 33 QUESTIONS completed
- A PROJECT STATEMENT: RESEARCH STATEMENT, BIBLIOGRAPHY and COURSE SYLLABI
- CURRICULUM VITAE
- LETTERS OF INVITATION
- FINANCIAL SUPPORT INFORMATION
- VISA INFORMATION
- PASSPORT INFORMATION
- If short-listed be available for interview in Dublin on 24th or 25th November 2009. It is the responsibility of the applicant to be available for interview at the date and time allocated and to cover the associated costs. After the interviews, the recommendations of the interview panels will be considered by the Fulbright Commission Board. The Board’s decisions and offers will be conveyed to applicants in April - May 2010.
Fulbright awards are subject to the candidate:
- receiving and accepting an offer from a recognised institution in the US
- confirming they have sufficient funds to complete their programs / course of study
- receiving final approval from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in Washington, DC
- completing a medical history and examination form and
- obtaining a J-1 visa.
