Fulbright U.S. Specialist Awards
What Are They?
The Fulbright Specialist Awards allow interested institutions to bring American citizens to Ireland for a period of two to six weeks.
These awards are a creative and cost-effective way to access U.S. academics and professionals who may not be free to come for longer periods as part of the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Awards. The Specialists can be brought in to assist with any aspect of the institutional development, such as new courses, research programs, or administrative structures, for example.
How To Apply?
The Council of International Exchanges of Scholars manages the application process on behalf of the Fulbright Commission. In order to bring a Specialist to Ireland they must be on the CIES Roster. More details can be found here: http://www.cies.org/specialists/.
Institutions must confirm their Specialist is on the roster. If the proposed Specialist is not on the roster, he or she will need to go through a review process in the U.S. to confirm their eligibility. Please note roster approvals can take up to four months.
Institutions are required to provide accommodation, meals, and internal travel costs to the Specialist. The Fulbright Commission will cover the Specialist’s per diem and travel.
The application period for 2017 Specialist Awards is now closed. Institutions should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for the guidelines and application form. Completed applications must be returned to Sonya by the deadline of 18th November 2016.
