William Phillips

William Phillips, MD, MPH, is a family doctor and Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Washington in Seattle. A specialist in family medicine and preventive medicine, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, where he led the research and clinical policies commission. Following two decades of practice in the community, he now teaches medical and other health professions learners primary care, communication and research. He directed an interdisciplinary fellowship in primary care research. Dr Phillips has served as president of the North American Primary Care Research Group and member of the US Preventive Services Task Force and other major medical policy panels. He is editor of the Annals of Family Medicine. As a Fulbright Scholar, he will research and develop simulation training in shared decision-making between doctors and patients at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland medical school in Dublin.
