Paul Carey is a graduate of Law and French from Trinity College Dublin. He completed an Erasmus year abroad at Sciences Po, Paris and interned at the French Conseil d’état. He is currently serving as a Judicial Assistant to Mr Justice Peter Charleton of the Supreme Court. Paul will be attending Columbia University to undertake an LLM focusing on public international law. He intends to examine the international legal order from substantive and philosophical perspectives, and to research current and pressing issues in the areas of international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and global governance. With the opportunity to study under leading international law scholars and in proximity to the United Nations, Paul aspires to gain a pivotal insight into his field. He hopes that this will empower him to advocate reforms to the international legal system, which respond to global challenges and promote international peace and cooperation.
