Dr Christopher P. Barton is an assistant professor of archaeology in the department of History at Francis Marion University. His specialization is historical archaeology with an emphasis in developing community-based projects. On his Fulbright Award he will teach post-medieval archaeology and heritage studies at NUI Galway. His research will focus on the history and archaeology of Great Blasket Island from the 19th to mid-20th centuries. The goals of this research are to better understand the everyday lives of Blasket residents and to promote the site for heritage tourism.
